Pumpkins

I think this may be the first year Spencer and I have ever carved pumpkins together. Here are our creations. Manufique!

Melt Down

I have a lamp on our bedside table that is in the shape of a cylinder. Earlier today Lucas' curiosity got to him and he decided to drop my cell phone down inside the lamp. This was around 5:30 pm. After dinner we carved pumpkins for family night. As we got started, Spencer ran upstairs to grab his Swiss Army knife and smelled something burning; he followed the smell to the lamp, looked inside, and saw my phone melted to the light bulb. This is what's left of it.

Frosty Morning

Today we had our first day of frost. It was real exciting to come downstairs and see the grassy tips covered in ice crystals. It has been an extremely long time since I've experienced that.

Colorado

Spencer's off to Vail, Colorado today for a job interview with OpenTable. The actual interview is tomorrow. Wish him luck!

Job Interview

Today I had my first job interview. Going into it I was a little bit nervous; I feel that I am a rookie at this sort of thing. I wasn't even sure I really wanted the job, but Spencer encouraged me to go for the practice. It was pretty interesting. Imagine the dirtiest mental hospital full of homeless middle-aged men and a staff with rotting teeth. The man who interviewed me was a beatnik with Art Garfunkel hair. Basically I was unimpressed and left smelling like old urine and smoke.

Pumpkin Patch

We all went to the pumpkin patch on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. The weather was a little bit cool, but there wasn't a drop of rain. We left with five pumpkins, however, later that day realized that we only paid for three. Spencer and I will be going back tomorrow to pay for two more pumpkins.

Remembering

I was home alone for pretty much most of the day today. Spencer was in Seattle for a job interview and Tracy went to Vancouver with the kids to visit her parents. So to kill some time I looked through some pictures.

This picture was taken two and a half years ago in Aliso Viejo. At that time Spencer was staying with James and Tracy while he made his decision to work for US Bank; I had just arrived from Hawaii.

Blustery Day

Winds from this season's first storm blew through the Puget Sound today. Winds as fast as 66 miles per hour caused power lines and trees to come crashing down. The power was out at our house for almost an hour and the large trees in our back yard were swaying back and forth. Thankfully nothing like this happened to our house.

Wish List

Some things I wish I had right now . . . corduroy pants, a clock battery, a coaxial cable for my tv, and new bath towels.

Hidden Treasures

It has been a lot of fun going through the boxes that were left behind when we moved to Hawaii. One of my favorite run-ins was with our hand soap and lotion set from Williams-Sonoma. I had forgotten all about it. We have Roman Fennel, which I don't think they carry anymore. . . What will I do when I run out of the soap?

Vernon

Here are some pictures from our weekend in Vernon. Thanks Ron!

Pushing Daisies

We've been watching ABC's Pushing Daisies; it's clever, quirky, whimsical, and fun. The premise of the show, the ability to give or take life with the touch of a finger, is quite entertaining. I love the way they use saturated colors, as well as the adorable dresses worn by the leading lady.

Job Hunting

I spent roughly four hours today trying to complete one on-line application with the state of Washington. I don't understand why it took me that long. I lost connection a few times, so maybe that was part of it. Anyway, it's finally done and tomorrow will be another day.

Homeward Bound

We're taking advantage of the long weekend and our lack of employment by going up to Vernon to visit Spencer's parents. We haven't seen them since our wedding, which was almost two years ago.

Belle Garner

Jennifer Garner never really tickled my fancy, actually I kind of despised her, until lately . . . It's like I'm moth drawn to a burning flame. To be quite honest I still don't know if I like her or just her gorgeous, radiant hair. I'm totally in love with it. Now I'm having seconds thoughts on keeping up with my haircut.

Hello Goodbuys

For months and months, while living in Hawaii, I was teased by Target commercials. Oh how I had wished that I could hop in my car and drive half way around the island to shop at a decent superstore. Unfortunately, I was stuck with this place. Well, today I was reunited with the store with a red door and it felt nice to be back.

We've Arrived!

Last night we moved into our new place. We got in around 6:00 pm. The drive, for the most part, was beautiful. The clouds through Central Washington were gorgeous. There were so many! Once we got to Snoqualmie Pass, the rain hit and the fog set in. It was truly breathtaking. Right now, we're settling in. Hopefully I can feel put together by the end of the week.

Coeur d'Alene

On our way up to Washington we stopped in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to visit our good friends, Wade and Ellie. Coeur d'Alene was a beautiful place; full of old homes, tree lined streets, beautiful lakes, and a quaint downtown. According to USA Today, it's the best place to be right now.
