Moving Day

Barn

Barn by Mad Sky carries these really cute baby clothes. I bought my sister I swaddling blanket in this print.

West Meets Martin

When living in Hawaii one can become out of touch with the music scene. That is of course unless you love Hawaiian music or really bad cover songs. So when I come home I get the chance to catch up on what I've missed. Last week I was introduced to Kanye's new song, Homecoming, which features Coldplay's Chris Martin and now I'm addicted. I can't get enough of it.

Baby Shower

Here are a couple of pictures from the baby shower we had last night. My sister only has a few weeks left until her little one comes. I think the shower was well received. As for me, I'm just happy it's over.

Expiration Date

On Saturday we ventured south to visit friends and family. While we were there we went and saw the indie movie, Expiration Date. The movie was really quite excellent. It's a dark comedy about a young man who carries a family curse; death by a milk truck on his 25th birthday. With eight days left, viewers watch as Charlie accepts fate and takes care of his "to do" list. It's clever, funny, and delightful. I highly recommend checking it out.

First Day of Fall

I forgot how much I love fall. It's been a long time since I've been in a climate that produces seasons. Today was beautiful. The leaves have started to change their color, the air is dry and crisp, and there were pumpkins out at the supermarket. We went up to Leslie's cabin in Midway to celebrate the autumnal equinox with friends.

Loving Wii

My brothers have a Nintendo Wii and we have been having so much fun playing it. I really like Mario Party 8 and playing tennis on Wii Sports. However, I think my favorite thing about the Wii is making new Mii's.

New Ride

After our second day of shopping we finally found a car we were really happy with. Today we purchased a 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport. Next on the list, a tow hitch.

Car Shopping

After catching up on the sleep we lost during our red eye flight to Salt Lake, we set off to find a new car today. We test drove a couple of Jeep Liberty's, a Honda Element, a Nissan Pathfinder and a Jeep Patriot.

Aloha 'Oe

It's been a good year. Hawaii will always feel a little bit like home.

Rainbow Books and Records

A couple months ago we came across a used bookstore near the university. It's fantastic. Who doesn't love buying books for $1.95 or $2.99? Today we went in to pick up some books for our flight home. One thing I may love even more than the books is the adorable hardware on the door. Isn't it cute?

North Shore

We went to the North Shore this afternoon. We had shrimp scampi at Giovanni's and shave ice at Matsumoto's. You'd think we were tourists...

Promotion

Spencer's company gave him a really good offer to open a new area and expand onto the West Coast. He will be in charge of marketing the program to all of the locations that Hawaiian flies to; from Seattle down to San Diego. We're really excited about this opportunity.

Freebie Bin

One thing I will miss about BYU-Hawaii is the TVA freebie bin. It's a wonderful place where people can drop off unwanted possessions and pick up new ones; a perfect place for transient students. I have a box of random things (i.e. yarn, denatured alcohol, a cook book, jumper cables, etc) that I need to drop off before we head for the mainland.

Note: This is not the actual freebie bin. Sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking for an eight light candolier.

Shower Invitations

My oldest sister Angie is having a baby girl in October. Last month I made invitations for her shower and finally got them mailed off. I was inspired by these fantastic invitations Jordan at Oh Happy Day made.

A Blog, Blog World

Isn't it funny what a small world blogging is? I had no idea that so many people I knew had blogs. Just today I found out that Sammy and Marcie have been a part of the blog world too. Since I live far from home and am horrible at keeping in touch, blogging is the perfect avenue for staying connected.

Splurge

I fell in love with this sweater when I saw it at the Honolua store. They didn't have my size so I had to order it online. Shipping was almost half as much as the sweater.

Labor Day

We had the Wong girls over for a sleepover last night. Today we have plans to go to the beach and have a barbecue with friends. It should be a good holiday.
