Jake & AJ...

Wish you were here to watch Monday night premieres with us.

Scaredy Cat

Ever since I took Van to Target last week and he was spooked by a talking Elmo, he's had this overwhelming amount of fear. He's scared of Sesame Street, his stuffed Quatchi, his magnetic farm, and even the bushes in the backyard. It's somewhat comical, and slightly annoying. Hopefully his bravery and courage will push through soon.

Help!

Next time you are at your local Target store, check and see if they have this Converse One Star Sportshirt, size large. I've checked all of the Targets in my area and they don't have my size. I really want it! If you buy it for me I'll pay you back. Promise!

Ball

Van's first "real" word is ball.

Figuring it Out

Lately we have noticed that Van understands a lot of what we say. It's been fun to watch.

When we're getting ready to go outside and I ask him to get his shoes, he will run to get them and bring them back so I can put them on.

When I tell him it's time to brush his teeth, he will head over to the bedroom sink and point at the medicine cabinet where his toothbrush is stored. Each night when we sit down for dinner and tell him it's time for prayer, he knowingly places his little hand on his forearm then sweetly bows his head.

If I ask him to get a book, he'll go to the bookcase and pull one out for us to read. Sometimes he'll bring one to me without being prompted. It's really quite cute.

Agree to Disagree

I heart Matthew Finlason and Tim Gunn. Spencer, not so much.

Transition

We're entering uncharted waters at our house. Van is transitioning to one nap a day. I don't know what to do. Hopefully it will go smoothly.

New Favorite

I am in love with OPI's "Yes...I Can-Can!" nail polish. It is fabulous. I can't stop looking at my pedicured toes. So, so happy.

Tumble

Van slipped in the parking lot yesterday and scraped his forehead and nose. A little road rash never hurt anyone. . . or maybe it did.

Farmers Market

Every Wednesday, from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, there's a farmers market at Marina Park in downtown Kirkland. I put together picnic dinner and we spent the evening down by the lake.

Footloose

Last night at the farmers market Van decided to let loose. He received a big round of applause for his performance. If you listen closely to the singer you can hear him laughing a little bit.

Cleansing

I'm in desperate need of a new face washing routine. I've used Cetaphil, St. Ives, and Philosophy. I'm still having massive breakouts. Help! I need suggestions.

Love That Dog

At church we had a book exchange and I came home with this little novel. A very cute book about a boy, his poetry, and a dog.

Phrase of the Week

Van's favorite thing to say this week is "Yaba Daba Doo."

The Haircut

Saturday was a big day. Van received his very first haircut. We went over to Denny and Crystal's, and Crystal gave him a nice big boy cut. He did a really good job sitting still on Spencer's lap. A few minor wiggles, but nothing Crystal couldn't handle.

Evergreen State Fair

On Friday night we joined our friends, Denny and Crystal, at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. We had a good time seeing the prize winning animals, eating yummy shave ice, and wishing Van were big enough to ride the carousel.

Our Afternoon

Yesterday I took Van to the park near our church building. We're looking forward to Spencer coming home this evening.

I Needed This...

Seen on The Coterie. Thanks, Heather.

Ruby's Diner

Last night Van and I went on a date (Spencer's in Portland). I took him to Ruby's Diner. To my surprise it was family night and all kids meals were free. Van had a great time looking around the busy dining room, while I thoroughly enjoyed my ground turkey cheeseburger. We're planning on doing it again soon when Spencer can join us.

Stagnant

"...not advancing or developing." This is how I am feeling right now. Very, very stagnant.
