Molasses Crinkles

Van and I made molasses crinkles yesterday. I have fond memories of making these soft, chewy cookies with my own mom when I was a young.
Ingredients
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
1 3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon powdered cloves

Step One
Mix shortening, sugar, molasses, and egg in large bowl. Sift together dry ingredients and add to previous mixture. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step Two
Shape dough into 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls, roll in granulated sugar. Place on cookie sheet, bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

I have a fond memory of eating those molasses cookies too. But they were yours, not my moms.
