When fall arrived in Washington so did the mushrooms. They've been sprouting up like crazy in our backyard. There are so many different varieties. Spencer's pretty sure that some our edible. If only we knew which ones.
They are so beautiful! I like the red and white one the best...it reminds me of mario brothers. Please don't try to taste test any of these though, yikes!
Are those all from your yard??? It really does take a pro to tell mushrooms apart. We went mushroom hunting with Uncle Rob, and I could not do it!!! I picked poisenous ones 9 out 10 times. So, maybe that's how to tell- if I'd pick it, don't eat it.
When my younger sister was three, I told her to eat the mushrooms in our backyard, which she did, greedily. We then told my mom who called poison control. My sister had to drink epicac (sp?) mixed with Sprite to make her throw up. After the first round, my sister (in her 3-year-old voice) said "I don't like Sprite." So cute and such a funny memory linked to mushrooms in the backyard!
